Kalike (ಕಲಿಕೆ) is a Kannada language-learning app, designed to need no account and no personal information. Here's exactly what the app does and doesn't do with data.
What we collect
- Learning progress — XP, streak, daily goal, completed lessons and your spaced-repetition schedule.
- An anonymous device id — a random identifier generated on your device for progress backup. It is not linked to your name, email, phone or any personal identity.
We do not collect your name, email, phone, contacts, location, photos or advertising identifiers. There are no third-party analytics, trackers or ads.
Where your data is stored
- On your device — progress and settings are stored locally; the app works fully offline and this is the source of truth.
- On our server (optional backup) — if a backend is configured, progress is also stored in our database keyed by the anonymous id. A secret held on your device is required to read or write its row.
How we use it
Only to provide the learning experience — save progress, keep your streak, schedule reviews and restore progress if you reinstall. We do not sell, rent or share your data.
Audio
Pronunciation uses your device's built-in text-to-speech. A future cloud fallback would send only the short text being spoken — never your progress or identity.
Your choices
- Reset progress in Settings clears all local data.
- Delete server data — email us and we'll remove your backed-up row.
Children
Kalike collects no personal information and shows no ads, so it is safe for younger learners. Please supervise children's use as appropriate.
